Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) blockages and regeneration failures, particularly on low-mileage urban driving cycles
• Fuel injector carbon build-up and occasional injector failure, more common in higher-mileage examples
• DSG automatic gearbox judder and hesitation on low-speed manoeuvres, intermittent in early engagement
• EGR valve stiction and carbon accumulation causing rough idle and increased emissions readings
• Electrical gremlins including infotainment system freezing and occasional dashboard warning light false positives
• Rear brake pad wear accelerated in some examples, possibly linked to caliper stick-slip

Good for

• Spacious three-row cabin with good rear legroom and flexible seating for larger families
• Decent payload and towing capacity (up to 2.4 tonnes braked) for a vehicle of this class
• Respectable real-world diesel fuel economy (36–44 mpg) on mixed driving when DPF is functioning
• Comfortable highway cruiser with refined, smooth diesel engine and predictable handling for its size
