Known issues

• 1.5 TSI engine prone to carbon deposit buildup on intake valves, especially on short journeys—manifests as rough idle or hesitation
• DSG 7-speed gearbox occasional judder on low-speed clutch engagement or stop-start situations
• Infotainment system (Columbus/Bolero) can freeze or lose Bluetooth connectivity; firmware updates sometimes required
• Water ingress into door seals and window channels, leading to interior moisture and mould in damp climates
• Panoramic sunroof motors can fail prematurely (2018–2021 model years); expensive replacement
• Turbocharger wastegate rattle on cold start or under heavy load (usually inconsequential but irritating)

Good for

• Spacious, flexible interior with excellent practicality for families and cargo hauling
• Robust turbocharged petrol engines with good power delivery and acceptable real-world fuel economy (27–32 mpg mixed)
• Strong chassis and handling for an SUV of this class; comfortable on motorways
• Low depreciation relative to German rivals and strong residual values on the used market
