Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and regeneration problems, particularly on low-mileage or urban-driven examples; requires expensive cleaning or replacement (€800–€1,500)
• EDC (Electronic Diesel Control) sensor faults causing limp-mode, rough idle, and excessive smoke; common on 1.5 dCi units after 80,000 km
• Dual-clutch transmission (DCT7) hesitation, jerking on low-speed manoeuvres, and occasional loss of drive; can require costly software updates or clutch replacement
• EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve carbon build-up leading to reduced power and diagnostics faults; labour-intensive cleaning required
• Electrical gremlins: infotainment glitches, power window regulators failing, and dashboard warning light cascade from sensor contamination
• Timing chain rattle on cold start, particularly in 1.5 dCi; usually cosmetic but can indicate wear in higher-mileage units

Good for

• Decent fuel economy (45–50 mpg combined in real-world driving) if DPF remains clear and engine runs cleanly
• Spacious interior and boot for family leisure and light hauling; practical crossover layout
• Solid build quality and robust 1.5 dCi engine block itself; engines often exceed 150,000 km with proper servicing
• Good visibility and comfortable driving position for motorway cruising; efficient enough for moderate-mileage owners
