Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and regeneration failures, particularly on low-mileage or short-journey vehicles; can require expensive cleaning or replacement (€600–€1,200)
• EGR valve sticking and carbon build-up causing rough idle, loss of power, and increased emissions; DIY cleaning or replacement typically €400–€700
• Electrical gremlins: intermittent dashboard warning lights, battery drain, and central locking/window failures due to poorly sealed connectors
• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattle on cold start; if ignored, can lead to chain slip and engine damage (€800–€1,500 repair)
• DSG automatic gearbox (if fitted) occasional hesitation and jerky downshifts at low speed
• Water ingress into rear light clusters and door seals, leading to corrosion and electrical faults
