Known issues

• DPF regeneration problems and soot accumulation, particularly on cars with short urban use — can lead to limp mode and expensive cleaning
• Diesel particulate filter (DPF) to EGR valve faults causing rough idle and starting difficulties
• Fuel injector issues (sticking or leaking) on the 1.6 HDi engine, resulting in loss of power and rough running
• Turbocharger bearing wear and boost pressure loss, especially beyond 80,000 miles
• Electrical issues including intermittent window/door lock failures and dashboard display glitches
• Timing chain rattle on cold starts (common to this generation; typically not critical but noisy)

Good for

• Reasonable fuel economy (45–50 mpg real-world on mixed driving if DPF is clean)
• Spacious, practical cabin with good storage and comfortable seating for daily commuting
• Low purchase price on the used market with affordable parts and servicing from independent garages
