Known issues

• Turbocharger carbon build-up on direct injection engines (B48 2.0L turbo), causing reduced power and rough idle — common from 60k miles onwards
• Electrical faults: iDrive system freezing, Bluetooth connectivity dropouts, and dashboard warning light false positives
• Water pump failure (plastic impeller), typically 80–120k miles, leading to coolant leaks and overheating
• Timing chain rattle on cold start, particularly B48 engines, due to weak chain tensioner design
• Transmission shudder and hesitation on low-speed manoeuvres with automatic 8-speed (ZF 8HP), especially when cold
• Sunroof mechanism failure: binding, rattle, or complete electrical failure; expensive to repair out of warranty

Good for

• Engaging driving dynamics and responsive handling for a coupe class
• Strong turbocharged 2.0L petrol engine with adequate power (190–255 hp depending on trim)
• Modern infotainment and premium cabin quality
• Reasonable fuel economy for a performance-oriented coupe when driven sensibly
