Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and forced regeneration cycles causing poor economy and limp-mode; common on cars driven mostly in town
• Electronic parking brake (EPB) malfunction and occasional failure to release fully; often requires replacement module
• Turbocharger lag and occasional boost pressure loss; turbo seals prone to weeping oil on higher-mileage examples
• Double-clutch gearbox (DCT) judder during low-speed manoeuvres and creeping; software updates sometimes help but recurring
• Water ingress into rear lights and tailgate; condensation issues reported on interior trim
• Timing chain rattle at cold start (N47 diesel engine variant) and premature wear noted by some owners at high mileage

Good for

• Spacious interior and flexible seating for family journeys; Gran Tourer body style maximises practicality
• Adequate diesel performance (16–20 mpg combined real-world is realistic for mixed driving despite WLTP figures)
• Relatively modern infotainment and connectivity; good resale value for seven-year-old cars in reasonable condition
• Comfortable ride quality and engaging handling for its class; good motorway cruiser with decent cabin insulation
