Known issues

• Manual gearbox can occasionally grind or be difficult to engage reverse when cold
• Electrical issues with door locks and window switches failing prematurely
• Turbocharger bearing wear in some 1.0 TSI variants (less common in base NA 1.0 petrol)
• Front brake pad wear acceleration due to regenerative brake design on some models
• Occasional fuel pump relay faults causing starting issues
• Interior trim rattle, particularly dashboard panels and door cards

Good for

• City driving and tight parking—excellent manoeuvrability and visibility
• Affordable running costs and cheap spare parts availability
• Low insurance groups and excellent fuel economy (45–55 mpg real-world)
• Reliable 1.0 petrol engine with no timing chain concerns
