Known issues

• 2.0 TDI fuel injector stiction and failure, particularly under 40,000 km; rough idle and loss of power are early warning signs
• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) regeneration problems, especially on vehicles with low annual mileage or frequent short journeys; blockage leads to limp mode and expensive cleaning or replacement (€800–€1,500)
• EGR valve carbon buildup causing rough running and reduced performance; more common in stop-start urban driving
• Timing chain rattle on cold start in first 10–15 seconds; usually not critical but indicates potential chain tensioner wear
• DSG gearbox (if equipped) judder or hesitation at low speed or in stop-start traffic; gearbox software updates sometimes help
