Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and forced regeneration cycles, especially on cars with short urban driving patterns
• EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve stiction and carbon buildup, causing rough idle and check engine lights
• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattling on cold start, particularly in higher-mileage examples
• DSG gearbox judder and hesitation during low-speed manoeuvres, especially on 7-speed wet clutch versions
• Water ingress into the headlight assemblies causing condensation and electrical faults
• Turbocharger bearing wear and oil leaks from turbo seals on cars with poor oil change discipline

• Strong diesel torque delivery providing decent towing capacity (up to 2.4 tonnes)
• Reliable 4-motion all-wheel-drive system when properly maintained
• Good fuel economy on motorway-biased driving (45–50 mpg real-world)
