Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and forced regeneration cycles, especially on vehicles driven mainly in town/short trips; can result in reduced power mode and €600–€1,200 repair costs
• EGR valve carbon buildup leading to rough idle, loss of power, and potential engine limp mode; affects longevity if not serviced religiously
• DSG 7-speed automatic gearbox judder or hesitation on low-speed manoeuvres and occasional loss of drive; software updates sometimes resolve but repeat failures occur
• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattling on cold start; can lead to chain stretch and catastrophic engine damage if ignored (€2,500–€4,000+ repair)
• Fuel injector stiction and coking on 2.0 TDI engines, causing rough running, increased emissions, and hard starting
