Known issues

• DSG dual-clutch gearbox occasional judder or hesitation on low-speed manoeuvres, especially in traffic
• Direct-injection carbon accumulation on intake valves leading to rough idle or reduced performance after 60,000+ miles
• Infotainment system (MIB2) software glitches, occasional touchscreen freezing or Bluetooth connectivity drops
• Water ingress into LED headlight units causing internal condensation and reduced light output
• Tensioner rattle on cold starts in first 10 seconds (1.0 TSI variant), typically harmless but annoying
• Clutch-pack wear in DSG ('7-speed') units on high-mileage examples, slipping or shuddering during acceleration

Good for

• Spacious, practical cabin with good visibility and easy-to-use controls for everyday family use
• Proven EA211 TSI petrol engines (1.0, 1.5) with good fuel economy and reasonable performance without turbo complexity issues common in older TSI units
• Comfortable ride quality with well-tuned suspension, suitable for mixed urban and motorway driving
• Strong residual values and low insurance groups for the segment
