Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration problems, especially on low-mileage or short-journey use, leading to blocked filters and warning lights
• EGR valve carbon build-up causing rough idle and increased emissions on some 2020 examples
• DSG 7-speed gearbox occasional judder on low-speed city driving or heavy traffic
• Water ingress into headlight units causing internal condensation and potential electrical faults
• Timing chain tensioner noise or rattle on cold start in first 10 seconds (1.6 TDI engines)
• Clutch wear on manual versions accelerated by turbo lag and jerky low-speed manoeuvres

Good for

• Practical compact SUV with excellent interior space and boot capacity for its size
• Low CO₂ emissions (diesel) make it attractive for company cars and tax purposes
• Decent fuel economy on motorway driving (45–50 mpg real-world)
• Strong resale value and good parts/service network availability across Ireland and UK
