Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging on low-mileage, frequent short-journey driving requiring forced regeneration or cleaning
• Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system and AdBlue heater faults, particularly in cold climates — can trigger limp-mode
• EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve carbon buildup affecting emissions compliance and cold-start performance
• Common rail diesel injector deposits causing rough idle and increased emissions on older fuel batches
• DSG 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox judder at low speeds or during parking manoeuvres (affects many VW groups, not diesel-specific)
• Turbocharger bearing wear and oil starvation if oil changes are neglected or low-quality oil is used
