Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) blockage or regeneration issues, especially on low-mileage urban driving; can trigger limp mode and costly cleaning
• EGR valve carbon buildup affecting emissions and causing rough idle or reduced power; common on high-mileage units
• Fuel injector stiction or leakage, leading to white smoke on cold start and increased consumption
• Dual-mass flywheel premature wear causing shudder on take-off or when decelerating; replacement is expensive (€800–1,200)
• Gearbox (manual or DSG) judder during low-speed manoeuvres or cold starts; DSG can require software updates or fluid changes
• AdBlue system faults or heater element failure; can disable limp-mode cutoff if not addressed
