Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and forced regeneration cycles, especially on low-mileage or short-trip use; premature blocking at 60,000–100,000 miles
• EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve failure causing rough idle, loss of power, and limp mode; carbon buildup is common
• Diesel Particulate Filter and EGR carbon issues exacerbated by poor fuel quality or city driving; can require costly replacement (€1,200–€2,000 for DPF alone)
• Turbocharger lag and occasional turbo bearing wear; some units develop boost instability or failure after 120,000 miles
• Manual gearbox (TDI variants) prone to clutch wear; dual-mass flywheel can fail prematurely (€800–€1,200 repair)
• High-pressure fuel pump and injector deposits; common source of cold-start issues and rough running, especially in winter
