Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and regeneration issues on cars with frequent short journeys; can require expensive cleaning or replacement (€800–€1,500)
• EGR valve carbon buildup causing loss of power and increased emissions; more common on higher-mileage examples
• Turbocharger seal degradation leading to oil consumption and blue smoke on acceleration
• Timing chain rattle on cold starts, particularly in vehicles over 80,000 miles; usually cosmetic but warrants inspection
• Gearbox (6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic CVT-style) can develop slow engagement or slight hesitation when cold
• Auxiliary battery drain issues on some units, causing intermittent starting problems
