Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) regeneration issues if short journeys dominate; can lead to expensive cleaning/replacement around €800–1,200
• AdBlue system faults and sensor failures, particularly in cold Irish/UK winters; dealer reset may be required
• Occasional DSG gearbox hesitation or judder during low-speed manoeuvres, especially in traffic
• Electrical gremlins with infotainment and dashboard displays (software glitches), usually resolved by dealer updates
• Water ingress into tailgate area leading to brake light/sensor malfunctions; poor seal design
• Timing chain tensioner rattle on cold start in first few seconds; not typically serious but warrants inspection

Good for

• Spacious, comfortable interior with excellent boot space (625 L) for family use
• Solid build quality and robust 2.0 TDI engine with predictable performance and longevity
• Fuel efficiency (45–50 mpg real-world) and good torque for towing and motorway cruising
• Low maintenance costs compared to rivals; good availability of independent parts and servicing
