Known issues

• Carbon deposit buildup on direct injection valves in petrol engines, particularly 1.0 TSI—symptoms include rough idle, hesitation, and reduced fuel economy after 80k+ km
• DSG7 gearbox judder or shuddering on low-speed manoeuvres and parking, sometimes requiring mechatronic unit software updates or replacement
• Timing chain tensioner rattle on cold start in 1.0 TSI (rare but reported), usually cosmetic but warrants inspection
• Water ingress into door handles and window regulators, causing electrical gremlins
• Occasional fuel pump control module failure, leading to no-start or stalling conditions
• Panoramic sunroof rattles and seal degradation in wet climates (Irish-specific concern)

Good for

• Excellent interior space and practicality for families; boot is generous and rear legroom is class-leading
• Fuel economy: 1.5 TSI achieves 45–50 mpg combined in real-world driving; 1.0 TSI slightly better
