Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and regeneration issues, particularly on vehicles with shorter urban driving patterns
• EGR valve carbon buildup causing rough idle and reduced power, especially on higher-mileage examples
• Diesel fuel injector stiction and failure, typically after 100,000 km
• Gearbox shudder on 6-speed DSG (manual option less affected) during low-speed manoeuvres or gear changes
• Turbocharger bearing wear and possible wastegate sticking, leading to loss of boost pressure
• Electrical gremlins with door locks, window motors, and dashboard warning lights intermittently illuminating

Good for

• Spacious, comfortable interior with flexible seating and excellent practicality for families
• Decent fuel economy on motorway driving (45–50 mpg real-world with careful driving)
