Known issues

• DPF regeneration issues and clogging, particularly on low-mileage or urban-driven examples; expensive replacement if cleaning fails (€800–€1,200)
• EGR valve carbon buildup causing rough idle and increased emissions warning lights; common from 60,000 miles onwards
• Diesel particulate filter warning light activation without genuine blockage due to faulty pressure sensors (€150–€300 to diagnose and replace)
• Turbocharger lag and occasional boost pressure loss; turbo replacement €1,500–€2,000
• Injector coil pack failures causing hard start and misfires, especially in cold weather
• Gearbox shudder during low-speed manoeuvres on some examples with the EAT8 automatic (software updates available from dealer)

Good for

• Spacious seven-seat interior with flexible seating and good load capacity
• Fuel economy in mixed driving (35–42 mpg real-world)
• Smooth, refined diesel engine under steady-state cruising
• Decent infotainment system (Peugeot i-Cockpit) with good connectivity for 2020
