Known issues

• Diesel particulate filter (DPF) clogging and regeneration failures, particularly on cars with low mileage or lots of short journeys
• EGR valve and cooler carbon build-up causing rough idle and limp-mode activation
• Electrical issues with dashboard switches, window regulators, and infotainment systems
• Timing chain rattle on cold start (1.6 CDTi engines), though rarely fatal
• Transmission shudder and judder on the 6-speed automatic, especially during low-speed manoeuvres and gearchanges
• Fuel injector coking on direct-injection diesel engines, causing loss of power and increased emissions

Good for

• Comfortable motorway cruising with low NVH and good fuel economy on longer drives (45–50 mpg real-world)
• Spacious interior and large boot, practical for families and commercial use
• Robust 1.6 CDTi diesel engine with reasonable longevity if serviced regularly
• Good driving dynamics and steering feedback for a large saloon
