Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and regeneration issues, particularly on low-mileage urban driving cycles
• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattle on cold start, occasional pre-ignition issues on later examples
• Electrical faults: window regulators failing, central locking/alarm module malfunctions, battery drain issues
• EGR valve carbon build-up leading to rough idle and increased emissions at MOT/NCT
• Fuel injector stiction and increased injector wear on this 1.6 engine variant
• Gearbox juddery feel on low-speed manoeuvres with the 6-speed manual (less common in automatics)

Good for

• Affordable running costs relative to petrol equivalents for moderate-to-high mileage drivers
• Practical interior space and decent boot capacity for its class
• Robust enough for daily commuting and light family duties
• Relatively inexpensive spare parts and wide availability at independent garages
