Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and regeneration problems, especially on low-mileage or short-journey usage patterns
• Fuel injection system faults causing rough idle, starting difficulties, and limp-mode activation
• EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve carbon build-up leading to poor idle and check engine lights
• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattling on cold start (1.6 diesel variant)
• Clutch judder or slip on manual gearbox models between 60k–100k miles
• AdBlue system (SCR catalyst) faults and sensor errors, particularly intermittent warnings

Good for

• Fuel efficiency and low CO₂ emissions on mixed driving (especially motorway)
• Spacious interior with practical boot for a compact hatchback class
• Reliability of the core engine architecture if DPF and fuel system are well-maintained
