Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) blockages and forced regeneration cycles, particularly on vehicles with high short-trip urban usage
• EGR valve carbon build-up causing rough idle and check engine light, especially after 80,000 km
• Injector deposits and occasional hard starting in cold weather, typical of this 1.7 dCi engine
• Transmission judder on low-speed manoeuvres (CVT-equipped models), exacerbated by diesel torque characteristics
• Water ingress into door seals and rear tailgate, causing corrosion and interior damp issues
• Turbocharger lag and occasional boost pressure inconsistency on higher-mileage examples

Good for

• Fuel economy (45–55 mpg genuine real-world, better than petrol equivalent on longer journeys)
• Towing capacity (1,500 kg braked) and load-carrying ability for family holidays and DIY
• Spacious, practical interior with flexible seating and good boot volume
• Comfortable cruising and relatively quiet cabin at motorway speeds
