Known issues

• Battery capacity degradation—typically 2–3% per year, accelerating in years 4–5 (2019 model now showing ~85–90% SOH)
• 12V auxiliary battery failure causing loss of cabin systems and limp-home mode (weak charging when main battery depleted)
• Onboard charger (OBC) reliability issues, particularly in damp Irish climate—corrosion and water ingress reported
• Brake fluid and coolant contamination leading to brake warning lights and thermal management faults
• Door latch and window regulator failures due to inadequate weathersealing on this generation
• Inverter/DC-DC converter faults causing reduced power or inability to charge (rare but expensive repair, €1,200–2,500)

Good for

• Zero road tax and VRT exemption (on import into Ireland) make running costs exceptionally low
• Practical urban and suburban commuting range (150–180 miles real-world in 2019 spec); efficient regen braking extends range
• Minimal maintenance—no oil, no transmission fluid, no spark plugs; brakes last 100,000+ miles due to regenerative braking
• Strong reliability and longevity of motor, gearbox, and main electrical systems; well-supported by Nissan parts and specialist EV workshops
