Known issues

• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattle on cold starts, particularly in petrol engines; failure can lead to catastrophic engine damage if ignored
• Turbocharger carbon buildup and occasional seal leaks on direct-injection petrol variants
• Water pump failure (plastic impeller) typically between 60,000–90,000 miles; can cause overheating without warning
• Electrical gremlins including dashboard warning light errors, malfunctioning door lock modules, and sat-nav/infotainment failures
• Clutch judder and transmission shudder on manual variants during low-speed manoeuvres or heavy traffic
• Coolant system issues and thermostat housing leaks leading to intermittent overheating

• Decent cargo space and raised seating position compared to standard Mini hatchback
