Known issues

• DPF regeneration problems and blockages, especially on low-mileage or urban-driven examples; requires expensive forced regeneration or DPF replacement (€1,200–€2,500)
• EGR valve carbon buildup and failure causing rough idle, reduced power, and emissions fault codes (€600–€1,200 repair)
• Fuel injector stiction and failure on the OM651 diesel engine causing starting difficulty and rough running (€400–€900 per injector replacement)
• Transmission shudder and reluctant gear changes (7-speed automatic), especially in low-speed traffic; mechatronic module software updates sometimes required
• Coolant leak from water pump gasket and thermostat housing; coolant system corrosion issues on diesel models with short service intervals
• Electrical gremlins: door latch actuator failure, window regulator motors, and occasional CAN-bus communication faults causing dashboard warning lights

Good for

• Smooth, quiet motorway cruising with respectable real-world fuel economy (42–48 mpg) on longer journeys
• Premium interior ambiance, solid build quality, and responsive steering for a mid-size SUV
• Good towing capacity (1,800 kg braked) and comfortable seven-seat option on some variants
• Resale value relatively stable within used market; spare parts availability good in Ireland/UK
