Known issues

• 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) shudder and judder during low-speed city driving, particularly noticeable in stop-start traffic
• Turbocharger carbon buildup and occasional turbo failure in earlier 2016 examples, leading to loss of power and limp mode
• Electrical gremlins including intermittent dashboard warning lights, infotainment system freezing, and sensor faults (MAF, oxygen sensors)
• Engine knock/pinging under load due to carbon accumulation on direct-injection valves, especially if run on lower-octane fuel
• Water ingress into tailgate seals causing boot water accumulation and corrosion
• Timing chain tensioner rattle on cold starts, particularly noticeable in first 10–15 seconds of engine running

Good for

• Responsive turbocharged petrol engine with adequate performance and reasonable fuel economy (combined ~44–48 mpg real-world)
• Compact, easy-to-park SUV design with good visibility and practical interior space for small families
• Strong parts network and aftermarket support; relatively straightforward servicing for petrol engine components
• Refined ride quality and comfortable cabin for a budget compact crossover segment
