Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and regeneration failures, particularly on low-mileage urban driving—often requires expensive cleaning or replacement (€800–€1,500)
• 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) shudder, hesitation, and judder during low-speed manoeuvres and in stop-start traffic
• EGR valve carbon build-up causing rough idle, limp mode, and increased emissions
• Electrical water pump failure leading to coolant leaks and overheating; not serpentine-belt driven
• Fuel injector carbon fouling on direct-injection engines, causing rough running and reduced power
• Turbocharger lag and occasional boost pressure loss due to wastegate solenoid faults

Good for

• Diesel fuel economy when driven on longer motorway runs (real-world 45–50 mpg achievable)
• Strong torque delivery and responsive performance in the compact saloon segment
• Premium interior trim and infotainment (though some systems are ageing)
• Relatively compact dimensions make it nimble in urban environments
