Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and forced regeneration cycles, especially on short urban trips; can cost €800–€1,500 to replace
• ZF 9-speed automatic gearbox hesitation, judder, or loss of drive; software updates help but gearbox replacement is very expensive (€3,000–€5,000)
• Electrical gremlins: infotainment freezing, camera failures, and door latch faults; often require software resets or module replacement
• EGR valve and cooler issues leading to rough idle and check engine lights; more prevalent in higher-mileage examples
• Turbocharger boost pressure loss and occasional turbo seal failure; replacement cost €1,200–€1,800
• Timing chain rattle on cold starts; not always serious but indicates wear; chain replacement rare but if needed is labour-intensive (€2,000+)

Good for

• Spacious seven-seat cabin with good versatility and comfortable family hauling
• Adequate towing capacity (2,000 kg braked) and reasonable diesel economy on longer runs (35–40 mpg realistic)
• Terrain Response and off-road capability for light adventure
• Strong residual values compared to rival SUVs
