Known issues

• DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) clogging and forced regeneration cycles, especially on low-mileage or city driving; expensive replacement if damaged
• 6-speed dual-clutch (DCT) transmission shudder, hesitation, and occasional loss of drive in low-speed manoeuvres; software updates sometimes help but gearbox replacement can exceed €3,500
• Diesel injector faults causing rough idle, misfiring, and reduced power; injectors are expensive at €400–600 each
• EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve sticking, leading to limp mode and poor fuel economy
• Water ingress into headlight units and occasional condensation in cabin electrics
• Timing chain rattle on cold starts in some units; premature wear reported around 80,000–100,000 miles

Good for

• Spacious three-row interior with practical boot space and comfortable seating for families
• Solid towing capacity (up to 2,500 kg) and genuine off-road capability with good ground clearance
• Decent fuel economy (45–50 mpg real-world on longer motorway runs) when DPF is functioning correctly
• Low parts and labour costs at independent garages; engine design shared with Hyundai Santa Fe makes spares available
