Known issues

• Timing chain tensioner wear causing rattling on cold start (rare but documented in some examples)
• Power steering electric motor intermittent failure leading to loss of assistance
• Door lock actuators prone to failure, especially driver's side
• Air conditioning compressor bearing wear causing refrigerant leaks
• Automatic transmission (if fitted) shuddering during low-speed acceleration
• Window regulator motors failing prematurely on front doors

Good for

• Fuel economy: typically 45–52 mpg combined in real-world driving
• Low purchase price and cheap spare parts availability
• Simple, reliable 1.0L and 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol engines with no turbo complexity
• Excellent turning radius and tight packaging make it ideal for city and town driving
