Known issues

• EcoBoost petrol engine carbon build-up on direct injection valves, particularly around 40,000–80,000 miles, causing rough idle and hesitation
• PowerShift automatic gearbox shuddering or jerking on low-speed manoeuvres and uphill acceleration
• Transmission software issues causing delayed gear engagement or erratic shifting, sometimes requiring reprogramming
• Electrical gremlins: infotainment system freezing, Sync3 glitches, and occasional dashboard warning light false alarms
• Premature water pump failure (typically 60,000–90,000 miles) due to bearing wear
• Clutch pack wear in PowerShift boxes leading to slipping or loss of drive, especially in stop-start traffic

Good for

• Practical family SUV with reasonable boot space and comfortable seating for four adults
• EcoBoost engines offer decent power delivery and adequate fuel efficiency for petrol segment
• Parts availability and servicing network across Ireland and UK remain good
• Relatively simple mechanical architecture without complex hybrid or electric systems to fail
