Known issues

• Timing chain rattle on cold starts, particularly in first 6 months; chain stretch can occur by 80,000 km requiring replacement (€800–1,200)
• Direct injection carbon buildup causing rough idle and hesitation under acceleration; cleaning required every 60,000–80,000 km
• Electrical gremlins: dashboard warning light failures, instrument cluster intermittent faults, and occasional ECU sensor errors
• Brake pad wear accelerated due to heavy pedal travel and poor initial calibration; premature wear at 30,000–40,000 km common
• Steering column creaking and play due to plastic mounting brackets; noise worsens in cold weather
• Air intake manifold leaks causing vacuum-related rough running; affects 1.0 TCe turbo engine more commonly

Good for

• Excellent fuel economy on petrol engines (1.0 TCe achieves 45–50 mpg real-world with careful driving)
