Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging and regeneration issues, particularly on low-mileage or short-trip usage patterns
• Timing chain tensioner wear leading to rattling on cold start; replacement is labour-intensive and expensive
• EGR valve carbon accumulation causing rough idle and potential limp mode, more common after 80k miles
• DSG dual-clutch gearbox judder and hesitation on low-speed manoeuvres, especially in 1st/2nd gear
• Turbocharger bearing wear resulting in blue smoke on acceleration; wastegate solenoid failure also reported
• Electric water pump failure (common to many VAG engines), leading to overheating risk

• Sharp handling and engaging driving dynamics with precise steering feedback
• Decent fuel economy for a performance car when driven sensibly (45–50 mpg achievable on motorways)
