Known issues

• Battery capacity loss (5–10% degradation reported within 3–5 years); battery thermal management faults trigger warning lights
• Charging port corrosion and intermittent charging failures, especially in high-humidity Irish climate
• Transmission shudder and hesitation during low-speed EV-to-combustion handover, particularly in stop-start traffic
• Electric motor bearing noise and occasional loss of EV mode without clear fault codes
• Water ingress into battery coolant circuit leading to short circuits and battery management system (BMS) faults
• Timing chain tensioner rattle on cold starts; 3.0 TDI version also prone to DPF and EGR issues if not regularly serviced

Good for

• Excellent interior space, comfort, and build quality for family transport and long journeys
• Impressive acceleration and smooth power delivery in hybrid mode on open road
• Low benefit-in-kind tax rates (until April 2024) and reduced VED if registered as company vehicle
• Decent electric range (30–35 miles real-world) for daily commuting if charged overnight
