Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration issues, particularly on vehicles with short urban commutes; blockages can trigger limp mode and costly cleaning
• Timing chain rattle on cold start in early-cycle 2.0 TDI units; usually warranty but long-term durability not yet proven for 2025 generation
• Dual-mass flywheel premature wear causing judder/vibration under load; more evident in earlier TDI iterations but design risk persists
• AdBlue system faults and injector clogging if AdBlue quality is poor or tank contaminated
• DSG (7-speed) gearbox hesitation and shudder on low-speed manoeuvres, particularly in stop-start traffic
• Electrical gremlins with infotainment system freezing or Bluetooth connectivity dropouts after software updates
