Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) regeneration issues, particularly if driven short distances frequently, can lead to costly cleaning or replacement (€800–€1,500)
• EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve deposits and occasional failure, causing rough idle and limp mode (€600–€1,000 repair)
• Diesel injector carbon build-up and occasional injector fault codes, especially on higher-mileage examples
• Water in fuel tank causing fuel filter blockage; common in diesel vehicles with infrequent use
• Mechatronic gearbox (S-tronic) software issues on some examples; very rare but expensive if it occurs
• Occasional turbocharger lag or boost pressure irregularities under load
