Known issues

• DPF (diesel particulate filter) clogging on low-mileage/urban driving; forced regeneration cycles and eventual cleaning/replacement required
• EGR valve carbon buildup causing rough idle and emissions warning lights, particularly on cars with lower annual mileage
• Turbocharger bearing wear leading to loss of boost pressure and excessive exhaust smoke in high-mileage examples
• Fuel injector coking common on 2.0 TDI; symptoms include cold-start difficulty and rough running
• Water ingress into headlight units; condensation between lens and housing affecting visibility
• DSG gearbox (7-speed) occasional hesitation or shudder at low-speed manoeuvres, though generally reliable in this generation
