Known issues

• Carbon build-up on direct injection petrol engines around 80,000–120,000 miles, causing rough idle and hesitation; requires inlet valve cleaning
• Water pump failure (plastic impeller) typically between 60,000–100,000 miles; replacement costs €200–350
• Timing chain tensioner wear on 1.4 TSI engine, producing rattle on cold start; tensioner replacement €400–600
• DSG 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox judder and hesitation during low-speed city driving; mechatronic unit software update often resolves, or fluid/filter change needed
• Door lock mechanism failures and central locking electrical faults reported on some 2017 examples
• Panoramic sunroof rattle and seal degradation, allowing water ingress into cabin on 2017–2018 models

• Responsive 1.4 TSI and 1.5 TSI petrol engines delivering peppy performance without the EGR/DPF complexity of diesel

• Strong residual values and good availability of used parts through Audi network and independent specialists
