Known issues

• Carbon build-up on direct injection valves causing rough idling and hesitation, particularly on lower-spec engines if not regularly driven at higher revs
• Water pump failure around 80,000–120,000 km, often leading to coolant leaks and overheating
• Turbocharger issues on some 2.0 TFSI units, including shaft wear and boost loss after 100,000 km
• Electrical gremlins with infotainment system (MIB3) including screen freezing and Bluetooth connectivity drops
• DSG automatic gearbox judder on low-speed manoeuvres or parking, particularly in damp conditions
• Timing chain tensioner rattle on cold starts, especially in 1.4 TFSI engines
