Known issues

• DPF regeneration issues and premature clogging if short urban journeys dominate; can lead to limp-mode and costly DPF cleaning/replacement (€600–€1,200)
• SCR/AdBlue system faults (heater element failure, sensor contamination) triggering warning lights and reduced performance until rectified
• Timing chain tensioner wear on higher-mileage examples (100,000+ km), particularly on 2.0 TDI; premature rattle on cold start
• Fuel injector carbon deposits and occasional hard-starting in cold weather, especially with poor-quality diesel
• DSG dual-clutch gearbox judder during low-speed city driving or parking manoeuvres (applies to DSG-equipped variants)
• EGR valve sticking or failure, causing rough idle, increased emissions, and loss of power
