Known issues

• Carbon build-up on direct injection intake valves causing rough idle, hesitation, and reduced fuel economy (common from 2018 onwards)
• DSG 7-speed gearbox judder and hesitation on low-speed manoeuvres, particularly in traffic
• Water pump failure around 60,000–80,000 miles, risking coolant leaks and engine damage
• Electrical gremlins: dashboard display flickering, parking sensor intermittent faults, and infotainment glitches
• Timing chain rattle on cold start (usually cosmetic but can indicate excess wear)
• Turbocharger bearing wear (if turbocharged model) leading to blue smoke on acceleration
