Known issues

• Carbon build-up on direct injection intake valves, causing hesitation and rough idle—common on low-mileage cars with short journeys
• Dual-clutch DSG gearbox (if fitted) exhibits judder on low-speed manoeuvres and occasional hesitation between gears
• Timing chain tensioner noise on cold starts, particularly after 80,000 km—may require replacement
• Water ingress into headlight assemblies causing condensation and electrical gremlins
• Mechatronic steering column switch module failures leading to loss of turn signals or wipers
• Turbocharger (1.4 TFSI) shaft wear and bearing play, resulting in boost loss and rattling at high revs

Good for

• Compact, nimble handling and responsive steering—excellent for urban driving and tight parking
• Efficient 1.2 and 1.4 TFSI petrol engines deliver good power-to-weight ratio with acceptable fuel economy (45–52 mpg real-world)
• Modern interior with solid build quality and intuitive MMI infotainment system
• Low road tax (€180–190 annually) and reasonable insurance group for young drivers
