• Carbon build-up on direct injection petrol engines causing rough idle and reduced power around 60k–80k miles
• Timing chain tensioner rattle on cold starts, particularly in 1.4 TFSI variants
• DSG automatic gearbox (where fitted) can exhibit judder during low-speed manoeuvres and occasional gear selection delays
• Water ingress into front door modules causing window regulator and central locking failures
• Coolant temperature sensor faults triggering check engine light and limp mode
• Turbocharger failure (1.4 TFSI) typically around 80k–100k miles, expensive main dealer repair

• Nippy performance in urban driving, especially 1.4 TFSI; good power-to-weight ratio for city car
• Compact dimensions and tight steering make parking and manoeuvring effortless
• Interior quality and infotainment (Audi MMI) feel upmarket for the class
• Fuel economy respectable at 45–50 mpg combined (real-world dependent on driving style)
